G-24 SECRETARIAT APPOINTS NIGERIAN AS DIRECTOR

The Intergovernmental Group of Twenty-Four on International Monetary Affairs and Development has announced the appointment of Dr Iyabo Masha as the director of the G-24.

The international organisation disclosed this in a statement in Washington DC which was made available to journalists on Sunday.

The G-24 noted that Masha, who was appointed on February 24, would succeed the outgoing director, Ms Marilou Uy. Marsha is also the first African to occupy the position.

According to G-24 Secretariat, Masha was bringing to the position, a wide range of policy, operational, and research experience at global and national levels, all of which aligned with the mission of the G-24.

“It is also important to note that Masha was a member of Nigeria’s Presidential Economic Advisory Council from 2019-2022 which directly advises the President on economic policy,” it stated.

In that role, she provided leadership to the Council’s work on global economic spill overs, macroeconomic and sustainable development policies.
