The Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) has said it may be difficult for federal ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) to fully implement government’s Executive Order 001 on ease of doing business, as less than 30 per cent of them has functional websites, while only 25 per cent has telephones and e-mails.
The Order was one of those established by government to encourage foreign direct investment and boost the economy.
Dasuki Arabi, acting director General of the Bureau, said this, in Abuja at the first edition of BPSR’s Lunch Time Reform Seminar organised by Right to Know (R2K) and MacArthur, with the theme: ‘Using ICT within the Public Service in the Ease of Doing Business to Enhance Public Access to Information’.
Arabi said this shortcoming has not only created a huge gap and constraint in ease of doing business, but is also responsible for the country’s recent ranking by Transparency International as 169 out of 190 countries.
